Located in South Bohemia of the Czech Republic, Townshend International School offers a great programme for Youth Year of Service (YoS). The uniqueness of the school and the programmes that are offered give the YoS many opportunities to share their talents and abilities with both the residential programme as well as the school itself. Much of the time spent here is in support of the dorms and the dorm parents. The primary role of a dormitory assistant is to support the work of the dorm parents and assist in creating a cohesive and loving family environment for the dorm students- an older “sibling” of the dorm, working to ensure the smooth running of dorm life. They present a picture of morality in thought, speech, behavior and dress, and act as an example of how joyful and happy a youth can be when he/she "abides within the sanctuary of Thy protection and the stronghold of Thy defense."

While working in the school a YoS duties will vary depending on what part of the school they work in. These include: assisting in the library, a teacher assistant within the classroom, providing personal tutoring for students, working in the school’s kindergarten and primary school, assisting with various areas of administrative/office work, manning the reception, and supervising service teams on campus or in the local community.

YoS who work only in the school also live in the dormitories. While their main act of service is in the school itself, they, too, are able to support the work of the dorm staff in creating a harmonious and prosperous dorm community.
