One of the great benefits of Townshend is it’s location in a region with rich museums, cultural events and exhibits, which complement the educational programs at Townshend. This past week, the middle and upper primary classes headed to the Museum of South Bohemia to the Shangri-La exhibit, which features the cultures of India, Nepal, Tibet, and Bhutan. This field trip brought to culmination the student’s work on the geography unit covering India.
The exhibit, combined mysticism and reality, touching on the myths, the geography, and the philosophy of the valley that makes up these four countries. Students and staff came away with a deeper understanding of the region, and topped it off with a sumptuous lunch at the favorite Indian Restaurant. A special thanks to Miss Anisa and Mrs. Clavin for organizing this trip for their students.
