As we have been studying and analyzing the United Nations, international relations and human rights issues as part of our studies in Civics Level I and II and Social Action Grade 7/8 courses, Townshend civics and social action students participated in an interactive human rights tour at the United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV).
Townshend civics and social action students not only experienced the world of the United Nations and learned about its work in Vienna and around the world, but also had the opportunity to participate in a human rights simulation debate in a UN conference room. Students represented different stakeholders to reach a joint resolution to a challenging situation. Students also had the opportunity to visit different sections, conference rooms, and offices of the UNOV. After the UN tour, students explored restaurants and shopping in Vienna.
