Guest Speaker from Washington, DC

We had the pleasure of welcoming Dr. Earl Possardt to Townshend, who addressed students and academic staff on sea turtle conservation. Dr. Possardt is a Marine Turtle Program Officer with the US Fish & Wildlife Service, and lends support to marine turtle conservation programs around the world. Dr. Possardt described the seven species of sea turtles, and fascinated us with photos of these turtles in their natural habitat. He described the importance of conservation and environmental preservation, and encouraged students and staff to look beyond human-centric perspectives of conservation. It was a privilege to have someone of Dr. Possardt’s experience visit Townshend, and we look forward to welcoming him back for future visits.
