Berlin Excursion 2017

Over the course of 11th-14th October 2017 history students of levels 2, 3 and 4 participated on a visit to Berlin to gain insight on some of the major events that occurred there mainly in the 20th century.

The students were able to gain valuable insight from experienced guides with knowledge and hands on experience of some of the key locales- most notably the House of the Wannsee Conference, 1936 Olympic stadium, Topography of Terror Museum, the Berlin Wall, the Reichstag building, the Treptower Park Soviet War memorial and Checkpoint Charlie

In addition to this they got some time to enjoy the cultural areas of Berlin such as Unter den Linden, Alexanderplatz, Charlottenburg and Friedrichstrasse.

Student behaviour was at it\’s usual high standard and the students enjoyed a break from the normality pf the classroom to take advantage of Townshend being so close to many cities in Europe, in the knowledge that this will open their minds and engage them in a new way.
