Bats at the Zoo

Middle Primary and Kindergarten spent the day at the local zoo in Hluboka. We were able to see many animals including a bat! There was an educational program 'Is it a vampire or a bat?' where we learned about bats diet, where they live and how they communicate. Children were able to experience echolocation by playing a game with a bat mask and shakers. They asked question and at the end were able to see a bat. Unfortunately, they could not touch the bat as it was getting ready for hibernation. The zoo keeper mentioned she doesn't touch the bat herself and uses gloves to handle it with care. The children also loved to feed and brush the goats. They didn't want to leave! On the way back, they were able to feed the ducks and fish. The children were disappointed that the sovereign shop was closed and would love to visit again in summer.
