Growth Mindset Gives You Wings!
As part of our exploration of the difference between a fixed mindset (“I can’t do it”) and a growth mindset (“I can try hard and learn how to do it”), we have been spending time together every week having meaningful discussions, acting out scenarios, reflecting and talking in small groups and practicing a new mindset, a growth mindset.
In describing a fixed mindset, we have been imagining a prison for our brain, as if our brain is not given the opportunity to reach its potential. In picturing a growth mindset, we have been envisioning a set of wings, allowing our brain, our potential to be released from all the hindrances and given the chance to fly as high as we can imagine.
The students were asked to make one or two life goals thinking as if there would be nothing holding them back. As if they had wings to fly...
