For parents wishing to attend the Gala Programme on the Saturday at the end of the TFP week, we recommend staying in the local area of Hluboká nad Vltavou. Hluboká has much to offer, and it is worth visiting for a day or two if you are able. There are lakes and rivers, bike paths and walking trails, golf courses, sports and outdoor adventure facilities, as well as many tourist and cultural highlights and areas of natural beauty.
Accommodation in the local area of Hluboká nad Vltavou can be found via the Hluboka nad Vltavou Website, or through Booking.com.
For parents looking for accommodation in the Czech Republic during the TFP week, we recommend taking the opportunity to travel further afield. The Czech Republic has many areas worth visiting, and we have listed some of our highlights below:
České Budějovice: A nearby city, located about 10km from Townshend with a vibrant square and plenty of cafes, restaurants, parks, walking trails, and modern shopping centres. A great base for a stay in South Bohemia, with excellent public transport links around the country.
Český Krumlov: One of the most picturesque towns in Europe, located about 35km from Townshend. A Unesco World Heritage Site with an old town square, renaissance and baroque architecture, and a stunning castle and gardens above the Vltava river.
Prague: A beautiful Central European capital city, with a UNESCO World Heritage historic centre, diverse architecture, and an abundance of museums and galleries.
Karlovy Vary: A popular spa town in the west Bohemia region of the Czech Republic.
There are many other places worth visiting, which are often listed on websites such as this: https://www.planetware.com/tourist-attractions/czech-republic-cz.htm
Public transport in the Czech Republic is very reliable, and a viable option for parents staying in well-connected cities such as České Budějovice and Prague. For anyone wishing to travel further afield, or with more flexibility, we recommend hiring a car.
