For parents wishing to attend the Gala Programme on the Saturday at the end of the TFP week, we recommend staying in the local area of Hluboká nad Vltavou. Hluboká has much to offer, and it is worth visiting for a day or two if you are able. There are lakes and rivers, bike paths and walking trails, golf courses, sports and outdoor adventure facilities, as well as many tourist and cultural highlights and areas of natural beauty.

For parents looking for accommodation in the Czech Republic during the TFP week, we recommend taking the opportunity to travel further afield. The Czech Republic has many areas worth visiting, and we have listed some of our highlights below:
České Budějovice: A nearby city, located about 10km from Townshend with a vibrant square and plenty of cafes, restaurants, parks, walking trails, and modern shopping centres. A great base for a stay in South Bohemia, with excellent public transport links around the country.
Český Krumlov: One of the most picturesque towns in Europe, located about 35km from Townshend. A Unesco World Heritage Site with an old town square, renaissance and baroque architecture, and a stunning castle and gardens above the Vltava river.
Prague: A beautiful Central European capital city, with a UNESCO World Heritage historic centre, diverse architecture, and an abundance of museums and galleries.
Karlovy Vary: A popular spa town in the west Bohemia region of the Czech Republic.

Prague to Townshend International School
Option 1: Taxi
Taking a taxi is by far the most simple, yet most expensive option. Because of this, we strongly recommend booking a taxi at least one week in advance. There are several taxi companies operating in the Czech Republic. However, Prague Airport Transfers and Prague Airport Transport have the simplest online booking systems.

Option 2: Car Rental
Rental cars can be booked from several locations within Prague, and are a cheaper alternative to taxing a taxi. A list of companies operating at Prague Airport can be found here.
Option 3: Public Transport
Taking public transit from Prague is also possible. There are 3 steps to the journey:
1. From Prague airport:
Take the Airport Express bus to Hlavní Nádraží (Prague main train station). There is a bus stop located just outside each terminal, and notated with a sign that says AE. The bus departs every 15 - 30 minutes, and the journey takes 35 - 45 minutes. Tickets cost 100 Czech Koruna per person, and can be bought on the bus, or at the travel information booth at the airport.
2. From Prague main train station (Hlavní Nádraží):
Take a train to České Budějovice. Trains depart every hour (and sometimes every half hour) between 5.30 and 22.00. The journey takes approximately 2 - 2½ hours. Tickets can be purchased from the large ticket office on the ground floor of the train station, and cost about 190 Czech Koruna per person.
3. From České Budějovice train station:
Take a taxi to Townshend International School, Hluboká nad Vltavou. There are usually several taxis waiting directly outside the front entrance of the train station. Taxis typically cost 400 - 600 Czech Koruna, and the journey takes approximately 25 minutes.
You can also search for local taxi companies using Google Maps, and book a taxi via phone.

Option 4: If you arrive in Prague by bus
There are two main bus stations in Prague: Na Knížecí and Florenc.
From Na Knížecí: walk to the nearby Anděl metro station. Take metro line B (yellow) to Florenc.
From Florenc: take metro line C (red) to Hlavní Nádraží (Prague main train station).
From Hlavní Nádraží continue from Step 2 above.
Metro tickets can be bought from the ticket machines inside each metro station, and cost about 40 Czech Koruna per person for 90 minutes. Scan your ticket in the nearby small yellow machine.

Take a taxi to České Budějovice train station. Taxis typically cost 400 - 600 Czech Koruna, and the journey takes approximately 25 minutes. You will need to book a taxi via phone (see previous section for local taxi information)
2. From České Budějovice train station:
Take a train to Prague Hlavní Nádraží (Prague main train station). Trains depart on average every hour (and sometimes every half hour) between 03.59 and 20.55. The journey takes approximately 2 - 2½ hours. Tickets can be purchased from the ticket booths on the ground floor of the train station, and cost about 190 Czech Koruna per person.
3. From Prague main train station (Hlavní Nádraží):
Take the Airport Express bus to Prague Letiště (airport). The bus stop is located outside the train station:
(From the train platform, follow the long walkway that leads into the train station. At the end of the walkway, turn right. Walk past Burger King, and look for an escalator on the right. Go up the escalator and exit the station. The bus stop will be on your left, and notated with a sign that says AE.)
The bus departs every 15 - 30 minutes, and the journey takes 35 - 45 minutes. Tickets cost 100 Czech Koruna per person, and can be bought on the bus, or at the travel information booth at the station.
Option 4: If you need to leave Prague by bus
There are two main bus stations in Prague: Na Knížecí and Florenc.
Follow Steps 1 and 2 above to arrive at Hlavní Nádraží (Prague main train station).
From Hlavní Nádraží: take metro line C (red) to Florenc.
From Florenc: Take metro line B (yellow) to Anděl. Walk to the nearby Na Knížecí bus station.
